This policy explains which cookies and similar browser storage GreyAcademy uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.
This Cookie Policy explains how GreyAcademy uses cookies and similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, on our website and learner and instructor dashboards (the “Platform”). It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar space in your browser that a website uses to remember settings. We refer to both as “cookies” unless the difference matters.
This is the full list of what the Platform sets itself, plus any analytics or advertising tags that are switched on right now.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| token (cookie) | GreyAcademy | Keeps you signed in. It is HTTP-only, SameSite=Strict, and marked Secure in production. | Strictly necessary | 24 hours |
| ga_vid (cookie) | GreyAcademy | Counts a visitor’s view of a blog post once, for visitors who are not signed in. | Functional | 1 year |
| user, session_expires_at (browser storage) | GreyAcademy | Remembers your signed-in profile details in your browser so pages load correctly. | Strictly necessary | Until you sign out or clear storage |
| theme, academy_selected_language, academy_preferred_voice, academy_speech_rate, academy_auto_narrate (browser storage) | GreyAcademy | Remember your light/dark mode, language and read-aloud preferences. | Functional | Until you clear storage |
| remembered_email (browser storage) | GreyAcademy | Pre-fills your email on the sign-in page if you tick “remember me”. | Functional | Until you clear storage |
| referral_code, newsletter prompt flags and similar interface settings (browser storage) | GreyAcademy | Keep a referral link you opened, and remember that you dismissed a prompt or where you last read. | Functional | Until you clear storage |
The Platform can load analytics and advertising tags (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag) only if they are switched on by our administrators. At the moment none of them is switched on, so none is loaded.
Some features use services from other companies, for example payment pages from our payment provider, Google sign-in, and, when switched on, analytics or advertising tags. These companies may set their own cookies or receive information such as your IP address and the pages you view, under their own privacy and cookie policies. We do not control them.
Unless it is listed in the register above, the Platform does not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
No analytics or advertising tag is switched on, so the Platform has nothing to ask your consent for and shows no cookie banner. If we switch such tags on, a cookie preferences panel will appear, and those tags will load only after you accept them. You can block or delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings; blocking strictly necessary items will stop you from staying signed in.
We update this policy when the cookies or tags the Platform uses change. The version and dates are shown at the top of the page, and the register above always reflects what is in use at the time you view it.
